Emotion Regulation and Anger Management

Joe Pentony is a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing Diaclectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in West Houston. DBT is a method of counseling that involves targeting unwanted emotions/behaviors and developing detailed solutions, prevention strategies and avenues of change to create a “life worth living.” Out of control emotions lead to out of control behavior. The consequences of out of control behavior lead to more out of control emotions. With DBT you will reverse this cycle to have control over your emotions which will lead to control over your behavior. This leads to increased self-esteem and better feelings about self in general. Joe offers individual therapy as well as DBT skills groups.

Joe is currently offering outpatient groups on Fridays at noon. DBT skills groups cover the following modules:

  • Interpersonal effectiveness (Learn how to get what you want without damaging your relationships or your self-esteem)
  • Emotion regulation (Learn how to change unwanted emotions)
  • Distress tolerance (Get through “the intolerable” without making things worse)
  • Core mindfulness (Non-judgmental, present moment awareness)
